Serpae Tetra vs Angelfish: can they live together?

A structured comparison of water overlap, adult size, social needs and behavioral risk.

caution

Possible, but with meaningful cautions

Serpae Tetras can nip long fins, especially in small groups or cramped tanks.

Practical response: Keep a larger Serpae group with ample swimming room, or choose non-long-finned tankmates.

Behavior and space

An attractive but assertive tetra; larger groups help diffuse chasing and fin-nipping. Tall-bodied cichlids that need vertical room and may prey on very small fish as they mature.

A compatibility answer should also consider the actual tank dimensions, number of each fish, filtration, planting and other occupants. Two species can be reasonable together in a long, structured aquarium yet become a poor pairing when compressed into a small footprint.
